On a shopping spree with Michelle

Michelle Bannehr is a real shopping pro. As Purchasing Manager at ACSYS, she coordinates the entire sourcing process and, together with her team, ensures that all the materials required are in the right place at the right time and in the optimum quality. In this interview, she talks about what makes her job special and how ACSYS has influenced her career.

What brought you to us?

I was looking for a new, varied challenge. An acquaintance told me that ACSYS was looking for an employee in Materials Management. This was very much in line with my vision for the future.

How was your start at ACSYS?

Even after the first few positive weeks, I was able to get to know a harmonious and familiar working atmosphere. During my probationary period, I decided to complete my degree in business administration. Thanks to my great interest in personal development and my degree in business administration, I was given the opportunity to develop into the position of Purchasing Manager.

What makes working in materials management special for you?

In our medium-sized company, the area of materials management in particular is very varied and demanding, as you are challenged with new tasks every day. Material is procured at the right time, in the required quantity and quality. This includes negotiating with suppliers, building and maintaining positive business relationships. Transportation must be organized, prices compared/questioned and invoices checked. In short, we pay attention to figures and keep an eye on costs. Our team spirit increases our own motivation every day. The motto here is “ONE FOR ALL AND ALL FOR ONE”.

How do you deal with challenges?

I personally see challenges as new goals that I want to achieve.

What does ACSYS mean to you?

If I had to describe ACSYS in a few words, I would think first and foremost of a family atmosphere, flat hierarchies and personal involvement in process optimization. And, of course, further training.

Who has given you particular support along the way?

My colleagues and superiors in particular have supported me. I think I can still learn a lot from them and I am grateful that they recognized and encouraged my potential.
